This was made by Bug. It says simply “Happy Mother’s Day” and contained 2 suckers and 3 pieces of hard candy. Best present ever.
My Bug thinks that our mailbox holds email it’s just too cute to correct. And since we have a v-e-r-y long driveway, it’s a good way to get a bit of exercise, giggle, check the email and get some exercise, especially when

Lizzie Lou rides in my shoulders!

“You look beautiful” I told Lizzie Lou after putting her hair in her signature side ponytail.
“Dorable” Lizzie Lou said.
“Yes, adorable” I said with a tear choked back, hoping that she would always be so matter of fact about how beautiful or adorable she is, always.

These girls constantly are changing, becoming more same and yet more different every single day.
Bug has never met a stranger. Lizzy Lou rarely wants to be part of a crowd.
Bug is petite, Lizzy is her perfect size.
Lizzy is loud, so is Bug, at times.
Lizzy smiles with her whole being. Bug can make all the troubles of the world go away with one hug.
They are same and different.

Oh dear, I have turned into that parent. The one the dresses their children alike all the time. Funny how parenting will make you eat your words. Now guess which pair is for the little one and which is for the big one… Only two sizes difference between the girls’ shoes.

Yesterday, Bug, Bug’s Mimi and I went to see “The Lorax”. It was a movie that played to my heartstrings, a movie (first a book) about trees being cut down. Oddly enough I had bought Bug a tree seedling for Valentines Day but we didn’t give it to her (she got more presents than she needed and we put it back for another occasion).
On the way home from the movie Bug asked if we could plant a tree. My response was “yes, of course!” and suddenly remembered the Valentines Day gift. This was truly a teachable moment, one that gave me the opportunity to tell Bug why it’s important for us to recycle (guilty of not doing it enough) and to buy socially & environmentally responsible products as much as we can. It really sounds like a very mature conversation, but it wasn’t and it lasted all of 20 seconds and we were opening the package of the seedling and watering it.
If you are interested in the movie and want an opinion, I thought it was great, had a nice story, but should be avoided if you don’t like a movie with a heavy message. Thankfully it also has great music and a lot of it and can keep the attention of the under 5 year old set.
Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.Dr. Seuss, The Lorax

Only a sister would offer part of their apple, knowing that in order to eat it would require that one sister bit off small enough bites and feed said apple to the other. Yep, only a sister.

Sometimes habits are fun, sometimes not.
Lizzy Lou has developed a habit that must not be ignored or else this child will melt into a fit of epic proportion.
Here’s what happens. After she has finished her meal, we unclick her safety belt from her booster seat which sits in a regular sized kitchen chair. The minute her feet hit the floor her hands are working as fast as they can to “reclick” the safety belt.
Every. Single. Time.
